Emmy Noether
1882 — 1935
Emmy Noether reshaped mathematics and physics alike. She revealed that symmetry is not mere decoration but one of the deepest organizing principles of the physical world. She also helped build the foundations of modern abstract algebra, shaping the language in which much of today's mathematics is written.
